Of Master's Degree & MyMaster~...

Salam n hye everyone~!!

I'm not really sure if any of you know this, but I'm currently a postgraduate student in a university in KL. 

Yup, I juz started my Master's degree studies in September 2014. And right now, I'm entering the last few weeks of Sem 1. My final exams for this sem is in January~.... ">_<

I decided to further my studies as I wanted to obtain a job of my dreams in the future (that is, being a translator, of course). Since I'm a full-time student again now, I'm only working part time at my old job once a while.

Besides that, I do freelance translation & proofreading jobs as well. (if you wanna know more, juz click here). My craft business has been a bit slow, but orders are still in queue. ^_^ Alhamdulillah~...

For those of you who are applying for or are currently studying for Master's degree or PhD, you must have heard of MyBrain15. MyBrain15 is sort of like a scholarship by the government. Well, it's more like a financial aid to increase the number of postgraduates in Malaysia. MyMaster is for Master students, while MyPhD is for PhD students.

Alhamdulillah, my MyMaster application has juz been approved last Friday. Thus, I'm in the midst of settling the required documents to be submitted.

Being a student again, yes, it does feel great. There are no more work stress. Yet, you gain stress from assignments and studying for exams, haha.. ＼（Ｔ∇Ｔ）／ Plus, Master's degree is different from Bachelor's degree, where you have to be super fast in jotting down the notes in class, and the lecturers will give you titles of books to be read. Yup, that's right, you have to find your own notes by reading books either online or purchasing them.

And in terms of assignments and exams, you're required to give out a lot more than expected. Yes, I mean, A LOT. Huhuhuhu~... Coz as a Master student, you're seen as an adult. (￣□￣;)!!

Thankfully, now I have my own laptop, bought online from Dell. Yeay~~~~~ o(〃＾▽＾〃)o Anyway, at least now I have some time to spend wif Hannah, and also catch up on watching anime~~... :3

Iftar 2014 with Officemates @ Al-Rawsha~!!

Salam n hye everyone~!!

Recently, on Monday (21st July 2014), my boss organised an iftar at Al-Rawsha restaurant in Seksyen 7, Shah Alam. The restaurant specialises in Nasi Arab besides other dishes such as kebab, seafood and yummy desserts.

My family & I have eaten loads of time at the main branch at Kampung Pandan, KL. And we have once eaten at Al-Rawsha's branch at i-City, Shah Alam. So, this is my first time dining at the Seksyen 7 branch.

My family usually order lamb madghut & chicken mandy. I ordered a lamb kebab (as I'm on a "no rice" diet, hehehe) The food is really nice. It's a bit pricey but if you order a large dish like mandy or madghut, you can share it, so it's reasonable as well.

There's also a Ramadhan buffet, but we ordered ala carte instead. This is my first experience breaking fast with officemates. Quite sad that my phone was out of battery that night, so the pics below are from my officemates.

If you're a fan of Nasi Arab or would like to eat some, I truly recommend Al-Rawsha. ^_^ The restaurant is shaped like a castle on the outer side, so you probably won't miss it. It has facilities such as surau/musolla & an indoor playground.

Btw, today is the last day of work before Eid. So, we took a pic in the office before leaving.

It's been (counting my fingers) 4 months since I last updated my blog. And did you know, I only have 3 previous posts for this year, haha... Wonder what happened to my so-called intention be an active blogger... 【・ヘ・?】 Muehehehe...

I've been drowning with work all this time. Currently, I've been working for 7 months now in my cousin's company. How time flies by~... I still feel like I've juz started working here, hehe... :P

So...how's your Ramadhan getting along (to my Muslim frens)? Hope all of you are doing pretty fine, InsyaAllah... I notice that now it's the "fever" season, most people are getting sick or down wif a flu. Even Hannah is feverish wif a cough and a flu. Hope anyone of you who are sick will get better soon, amin~..

Busy wif a new job~...

Salam n hye everyone~!!

Really, I dunno why I'm getting more inactive in this blogging world, huhu~... Sometimes I do have free time when I've finished translating subtitles. Hehe... :P

Anyway, now I'm sure I can't blog much since I've started work at my cousin's company. I started to work there since last Wednesday (4th December 2013). It's a company in Shah Alam that gives out auditing services & ISO certificates. 

Since I still haven't got any other job offers, I took up this one instead. My cousin offered me a job as a compliance officer. The good thing is I didn't have to go through an interview since he's the boss, hihi~... ^_^ I saw other people coming in & out of the office to be interviewed for various posts.

So currently, I have 3 jobs: working for my cousin, as a freelance translator for i-Yuno & also as a crafter for my own craft business, Greennnpanda Craft. Hihi~... :3

My cousin still searching for auditors to be associate auditors for the company. If you know someone who wants an auditor job, do contact me, OK?

Freelance subtitling translator? What's that?

Thanks so much to those who wished me on my previous post. Yeah, the minion plushie is the new trend for convocation bouquets this year. I guess this has a lot to do with how great the Despicable Me 2 movie was accepted worldwide, hihi~... ^_^

Remember that I told you I got a job as a freelance translator? (click here) Well, let me tell you actually what the job scopes are.

Since I'm recruited as a freelancer, I basically work from home. No need to rush & go through traffic in the mornings, hehe... My boss has asked me to download certain files & software that are needed for the work.

What I do? I translate English subtitles into Malay, usually for American & British shows. My boss will send a new assignment via email and using the software I have downloaded, I will translate the subtitles & put them into the video of the show I'm doing.

Since this is freelance, it's not a permanent job. I get paid for every episode I translate. Just like a normal translator who gets paid for every page translated.

Therefore, although this jobs suits me well and I very much enjoy the privilege of watching the shows before they are aired on TV, it's tiring and requires a lot of attention, focus, skill & time. For 1 episode, I'm only able to finish it in 2-3 days. (but I take a lot of breaks in between, hehe.. :P)

So...I'm still job-hunting for a permanent job. I'd really wish to get something like this, I mean something that has to do wif translation or language, yet...you can't be too picky when it comes to jobs, right? Owh well... Actually my mom prefers me to do a Master's degree & become a lecturer like her, but I insisted on getting work experience first, ngehehe... X3

Job interview + rejected = another job offer

Salam n hye everyone~!!

Thanks for those who have visited my blog & also wished me luck. Hihi~.. I waited after a I got a job offer to update this blog, haha.. XD So sori for taking so long~...

Anyway, on 17th July 2013, I went to a job interview at i-Yuno Media Group, for the translator/editor position. It was my first ever interview, so I was nervous, absolutely nervous~... >_< And I didn't even talk much about myself, which one of the interviewees pointed out. T_T

Before being called to the interview, I had to take a translation test. Only candidates who passed the test were called for an interview. So, I guess I did pretty well in the test, hehe.. :P

Then, on 20th July 2013, I received an email about the interview result. Well, I didn't get the permanent position. But lucky for me, they very much liked my translation test results, thus they offered me another job, as a freelance translator. Alhamdulillah~... :3

The job scope is to translate subtitles for Korean dramas, American programmes and documentaries, from English to Malay. They will pay me per hour (according to how many hours the drama or programme is). I think it's definitely awesome to have this job, coz it's always been my dream to become a translator. (you've gotta start working from the bottom, right?) Plus, my boss is a Korean guy, hihi~... ^_^
